HILLS youths can now share their love of the great outdoors with the launch of a new Rovers group in Emerald.
After lying dormant for almost 20, the group is now available for hills young people who enjoy outdoors activities.
The original Emerald based Rovers group closed in the late 1980s but has now been rejuvenated by a group of hills youths.
Rovers is part of the 18-26 year old youth section of the Scout Association which allows young people to meet, have fun and gives them the opportunity to participate in community service.
The group known as the Ogilvy Rovers Crew was launched at the Emerald Scout Hall on Friday, 25 May.
To help celebrate the relaunch of the group, an abseiling activity was held at the Scout Hall with local councillor Graeme Legge and politicians Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato and La Trobe MP Jason Wood also testing out their skills.
Group spokeswoman Janet Granger-Wilcox said the relaunch of the Rovers was an exciting time for hills youths.
Ms Granger-Wilcox said Rovers is not only a great way to meet other young people but a great way to participate in community service.
She said the group would undertake a wide range of outdoor activities including camping and four-wheel driving camps.
The group will also have fun playing 10 pin bowling or swimming.
Ms Granger-Wilcox said the Rover crew would also help with scout and cub camps.
The 10 member crew is getting ready for a Rover mud bash rally by building their own buggy.
Anyone who wants to join in the fun of the Rover crew can contact Ms Granger-Wilcox on 5968 4427.
