THE Basin will look to capitalise on a great spell of bowling by Leigh James as the Huntsmen look to have a stranglehold on their FTGDCA game against Lysterfield, finishing the day with the Beavers 7/47 chasing 161.
The Basin’s innings was built around Adam Heath’s 60 off 112 balls. Lysterfield’s Matt Dempsey was their leading wicket taker. The Beavers were required to face 18 overs before stumps and appear to be struggling to open their account.
Upwey appear to be in control in their game against Upper Ferntree Gully. The Tigers managed to bundle the Kings out for 127 with Travis Richardson taking 5 wickets. Jay Colee and Peter Dalton showed some resistance.
St Johns Tecoma made 226 against last year’s premiers Rowville at Talaskia. Youngster Jason Newman (56) combined with Marc Hardy (49) to give the Saints a solid base.
Former Lang Warren player Ricky Ramsdale took 5 wickets for the Hawks. Rowville will commence next week at 2/20 with captain Paul Evans clean bowled by Danny Pearce for 5.
Johnathon Levell and Lee Newey compiled half centuries in Belgrave’s score of 172 against Johnson Park after the Magpies were 2/150 at tea.
Craig Wenham and Steve Bowen were the best of the Sharks bowlers with Bowen taking his three wickets in 1 over.
Ferntree Gully made 206 against Eildon Park with the runs shared around. Michael Sinclair bowled well for the Panthers and once again the Blues bowlers will be looking to take the points at home.
Knoxfield captain Trent Schofield is again amongst the runs making 46 in the Knights game against Mountain Gate. Left-arm pace bowler Brian Ferguson took 3 wickets for the Gators.
In the Decoite Shield top of the table clash, Monbulk have the upper hand over Footballers, thanks to Darren Hill’s 6-wicket haul.
The Hawks will be chasing 114 for victory. For the Griffins Peter Tahin made 58.
