ENTHUSIASTS who have always wanted to dance can now join in the fun at Kallista Dance Academy.
Dance is a great way to get fit, improve self-confidence, meet new people and further develop coordination.
At Kallista Dance Academy all this can be achieved in a fun and friendly environment.
Kallista Dance Academy has been established since 1989 and is owned and run by Helen Spurr. Classes are offered in tap, jazz/funk/hip hop, classical ballet (Royal Academy of Dance accredited) and VCE dance.
The ages of the students range from three to 80 and the classes are structured so that participants dance with students of their own age and ability.
Helen said the focus of the classes was to have fun, enjoy and do your best, while at the same time achieving the planned syllabus and performance work.
“At junior levels we offer combined tap, jazz and ballet classes so that they get a feel for each style. As students get older the classes are split so they can concentrate on the styles they prefer,” she said.
Throughout the year the students have many opportunities to show their talents – the mid-year display, competitions, ballet exams, the end-of-year concert and some community performances.
Kallista Dance Academy also hires the costumes needed for performances to students, so there is no stress about having to sew new costumes.
The studio is at 18 Main Street, Monbulk.
