MONBULK’S U17 team enjoyed their first win of the season on Saturday in the junior cricket round 3.
Defending 163 and with only 8 in the field, Monbulk dismissed Upwey for 123. Noy Roca took 3 for 20.
The U13’1 boys also tasted victory. In a thrilling win Monbulk took the last Johnson Park wicket with 5 runs to spare.
Replying to Monbulk’s 126, Johnson Park were all out 121. Wicketkeeper Chris Anderson featured in five dismissals and Cameron Griffiths bowled well, taking 3 for 15.
The U13’2 team were chasing Ferntree Gully’s 128. Led by Sean Ellis (30 not out) and Bryce Lees (16) Monbulk got to 6 for 95 at close of play.
After a solid start, the U15’s batsmen succumbed to Lysterfield’s attack and were all out for 36.
In Lysterfield’s second innings, Monbulk had the home side struggling at 7 for 46. Tom Hutchins and Liam Kempson each took two wickets.
