Ferntree Gully pair win Monbulk event

MONBULK Bowling Club conducted its annual King of the Mountain Tournament over the last two days of the extended Cup holiday.
Paul Wootten and Eddy O’Brien from Ferntree Gully won the pairs competition, with participants from all over the state competing for cash prizes totalling $1500.
The cold and windy days with sunny breaks in between did not dim the competitive spirit as the bowlers rugged up and continued rain or shine.
At the end of the two days the difference between the first and second pairs was only two points and was decided on the last ball of the last end.
The other placing were: second – Jack Pater and Dory Pekelman, third – Gary Nicholls and Kevin Wagner, fourth – Ken Faulkner and Frank Di Stella, fifth – Noel Williamson and Harley Harber, sixth – Greg Blades and Tom Perry.
The ladies’ pennant was held over due to the Cup Day holiday.
In the men’s pennant, Monbulk lost all rinks against Montmorency at Montmorency. They lost all four rinks with a score of Monbulk 67 to Montmorency 129 resulting in a pennant score of 0.
Monbulk Division 5 played Balmoral Gardens at Balmoral Gardens. They drew one rink out of four with a score of Monbulk 77 to Balmoral Gardens 95 resulting in a pennant score of 2.
