EMERALD BMX enthusiasts could soon see a bike track in BeaconsfieldEmerald Road, after the Shire of Cardinia discussed at its monthly town planning committee meeting possibly building a circuit.
The proposed track would be put together in what is known as Pepi’s Paddock.
In June 2004, the council put on display for public comment a Landscape Concept Plan for the paddock.
Stage one of the concept included relocating the BMX track from Hogans Park, opposite Pepi’s Paddock.
Emerald ward councillor Graeme Legge said putting a bike track in Pepi’s Paddock would honour a promise.
Cr Legge said said the existing track in Hogans Park had become impractical to use with vegetation being damaged by BMX jumps and runups.
Emerald Village Committee chairman Ed Chatwin said the committee had made inquiries about building a toilet block on the paddock.
Cr Legge said young people had shown a great deal of enthusiasm over relocating the track, and added the track would provide a venue for young people to develop riding skills.
