ALL four Monbulk teams batted on the first morning of round 9 of junior cricket.
The biggest total of 8 for 240 was posted by the U13/1s. In wet conditions at Baynes Park, The Basin’s bowlers could not contain Chris Anderson (60 not out), Cameron Griffiths (55 not out) and Liam Mackin (40 not out). Campbell Craigie also batted well, making his best ever score of 22.
Playing Upper Ferntree Gully, the U17/1s also topped 200, ending at 4 for 223. A 100-run opening partnership between Brendan Wilson (46) and Justin Creed (49) set the stage for more good batting by Kieren Gray (43) and Josh Bolton (42 not out).
Also against Upper Gully, the U15s batted the whole morning to get to 6 for 127.
Ranen Wilson (34) and Tom Hutchins (27) put on a 67-run partnership and Steve Torsello added a quick 17 to leave the side in a position to win their second game of the season.
After last week’s win, the U13/2s will also be hoping to take the points in their match against South Belgrave. Captain Shaun Wilson chose to bat and some excellent lower order batting got the score to 102, all out. Brodie Currie continued his good form with a well-compiled 31 not out.
