Upwey-Tecoma blitz Auburn

PLAYING at home to Auburn Bowls Club on the Chosen Avenue grass rinks the division four Upwey-Tecoma side blitzed their opposition thanks to the domination by the Andrew Walters skipped rink which finished with a 30 shots up win.
Walters and his team have been steadily improving each week and this win should boost their confidence for expectation of more wins during the second half of the season. With the rinks of Robin Southern and Trevor Robertson scoring good wins and Tom Perry having a drawn game, the final score means that Upwey-Tecoma now sit at the top of the Division four ladder well clear of their nearest rival.
Playing his first game in this division as a substitute bowler, Jeremy Burns turned in an impressive performance as lead for Robertson, whilst Tas Boyce showed he is getting back to top form with another fine performance as second to Southern.
Tom Perry and his team were behind on the scoreboard for most of the match but by sticking tenaciously to their game plan were able to get away with a drawn game.
With the new synthetic green finally installed, the club is looking at a bright future both on and off the greens as membership numbers steadily improve.
Results: Upwey-Tecoma d Auburn 116-63 (Andrew Walters won 39-9, Robin Southern won 28-18, Trevor Robertson won 26-13, Tom Perry drew 23-23).
