Gembrook relives glory days

By Tania Martin
TAKING a step back in time Gembrook-Cockatoo Football Club premiership players from 1986 relived the excitement of that day almost 20 years ago.
Club president Steve Goodie said the day, which also involved a reunion of all past players of the club, was a great opportunity for them to talk about the good old days and see what’s new at the club.
He said the reunion day was well attended and that the 1986 Premiership players were presented with medallions at half time of the senior’s match on Saturday.
Mr Goodie said the players were presented with the medallions as the league didn’t give out medallions in 1986.
He said following the presentation an afternoon tea was held for the past players and that a few people even continued the day of festivities with dinner at the Ranges Hotel.
Mr Goodie said it was good to have the past players back at the club and that it was great to see them interested in how the club is moving forward.
He said the reunion is one in a line of festivities planned throughout the season to commemorate the centenary of the club.
