Biker bounces back

MONTROSE resident John Fleming has vowed to hop back on his motorcycle after a collision with a kangaroo that left him with a broken collarbone and foot.
On Sunday, 18 September, shortly after 8pm, Mr Fleming was riding his motorcycle along the South Gippsland Highway on the way home from a weekend riding trip when the accident happened.
He said the impact propelled him over the top of his motorcycle, and that he landed on the road.
Mr Fleming quickly rolled off the road, out of the way of oncoming traffic.
He has spent the last three weeks in rehabilitation and is looking forward to coming home later this week.
“There is nothing like being home, and it has taken me a long time to get home as I was on my way when the accident happened,” he said.
Vowing to hop back on the bike, he said that he could ride for another 25 years and not hit another “roo”.
Coincidentally, Mr Fleming works for Road Management Solutions, a company that makes road signs, including wildlife warning signs.
He now has his own personalised kangaroo sign autographed by his work colleagues wishing him a speedy recovery.
