Call for China cyclists

BIKE riders looking for a bit of adventure have been invited to join the Warby Ghost Riders on a tour of China next year.
The Warby Ghost Riders started up just over three years ago and now has members from Monbulk, Berwick, Lysterfield, Lilydale, Emerald, and Mooroolbark.
The group gets together every Thursday to ride along the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail.
In April 2006 the group will be undertaking a 12day cycling trip through the Yunnan Province of southern China.
Riders will cycle through spectacular Chinese countryside, surrounded by snow capped mountains and rural farmland.
Warby Ghost Rider Dennis Dawson said there are 10 riders booked for this adventure and that there are still five spots open to anyone who wants to join the tour.
Mr Dawson said the group planned to fly out of Australia on Friday, 31 March to Bangkok and then on to Kunming in China.
He said after spend two nights in Kunming the riders would catch a flight to the historic town of Li Jiang.
“Then it’s on the bikes for the real adventure to begin, cycling from Li Jiang to Bai Shui He and then on to the Tiger Leaping Gorge,” he said.
The group will then have a whole day to explore the wonders of the Tiger Leaping Gorge before jumping back on their bikes to continue the adventure.
Mr Dawson said the cycling sections of the trip will conclude in Dali where the group will have two days to experience the magic of the incredible city.
The total cost of the cycling adventure is expected to be $3200, which includes air fares from Australia to Kunming through Bangkok, accommodation on the trip, most meals, bicycle hire, support vehicles, snacks and a tour guide.
Anyone interested in joining the tour should contact Dennis Dawson on 5968 4706.
