BURRINJA Gallery and the Koorie Heritage Trust are launching a number of free indigenous workshops that are being run along side the exhibition Mission Voices.
Mission Voices features stories of Coranderk and other Aboriginal missions though art, text and oral traditions.
The exhibition is now open and will run at Burrinja Gallery in Upwey until Sunday, 25 June. Entry costs $5 for adults and $4 for concession card holders.
Local residents can also enjoy a free workshop presented by artist Rita Morrison from the Koorie Heritage Trust.
Ms Morrison will present practical information to participants about preserving community and family histories on Thursday, 18 May.
Those interested in learning the art of weaving can join Aunty Dot Peters for a two-hour session on Monday, 22 May.
Aunty Dot, who learnt weaving from her grandmother, is known for creating amazing objects of art in the traditional method from using sword grass.
Anyone interested in either of these two free workshops should contact Burrinja Gallery on 9754 8723 for session details.
