A MAN was killed on Sunday when his car and a trailer collided on the BelgraveHallam Road.
Police said the freak accident occurred near Mountain Flat Road, Narre Warren East, about 3pm when a trailer being towed by a northbound fourwheeldrive crossed into the path of oncoming traffic.
A 31yearold Noble Park man died at the scene.
The driver of the fourwheeldrive, a 34yearold Narre Warren man, and his 30yearold female passenger, escaped injury.
In a twist, which has angered emergency services personal, Emerald SES volunteers called to the scene to assist police, returned to their local headquarters just after 9pm to discover that their private vehicles had been broken into and valuables stolen.
Thieves stole a new chainsaw and related equipment from one volunteer’s car.
