POLICE impounded two cars last week after intercepting a street race near Montrose.
Acting Sergeant Ron Veldman, of Yarra Ranges Traffic Management Unit, said police intercepted two men travelling at very high speeds along Swansea Road shortly after 9.10pm on Tuesday 25 September.
Acting Sgt Veldman said the two 20-year-old men, one from Wandin East and the other from Lilydale, told police they were racing.
He said both were clocked travelling at 130km/h in an 80 zone.
Acting Sgt Veldman said both vehicles were impounded on the spot and the men had been charged with numerous dangerous driving offences.
