Country music in the Hills

HILLS people should dust off their cowboy boots and get ready for a good old-fashioned country hoedown at the Dandenong Ranges Music Council (DRMC).
The DRMC is launching its latest project, the Country Music Club, on Sunday, 26 November, at 1pm.
The project called the Outer Eastern Music Club gives people the opportunity to listen, perform and enjoy country music in a family environment.
Hills country music performers, Tina Currie and Karen Woolfall recently approached DRMC to help them launch a country music club in the Dandenong Ranges.
Norma Durrand, chairman of DRMC, said country music is new to the council and she is thrilled that Tina and Karen have taken on this new musical activity.
The music club will operate on an open stage concept and performers are invited to sign-up to sing.
The launch of the project will be held on Sunday, 26 November, at the community music centre at Upwey High School. Anyone interested in performing or finding out more about the project can call Tina on 9758 9165 or the DRMC on 9754 6566.
