AN Emerald resident has raised concerns over a drain water pipe that is causing erosion to a small patch of ground on the edge of Pepi’s land.
Beryl Bartacek said she was concerned about the erosion caused by the installation of a drain water pipe next to the Emerald to Cockatoo walking trail.
Mrs Bartacek said she had approached the Shire of Cardinia and was told that it was monitoring the situation.
Shire manager of governance and communication Doug Evans said the pipe was installed in August under the walking trail to take the stormwater runoff away from the track. Mr Evans said this was done to prevent the trail from being washed away during heavy rain.
Mrs Bartacek said she understood that a pipe was needed to stop water from flooding the track, but said it could have been designed better.
“I just hope the erosion can be stopped, but I don’t know what they can do to stop it,” she said.
Mr Evans said if the situation deteriorated, further work would be carried out to stop the erosion spreading.
