POLICE nabbed 78 motorists for driving offences at a road works site between 9 and 12 August.
Yarra Ranges TMU sergeant John Morgan said police spent several hours over three days monitoring driver behaviour along a stretch of road works along Clegg Road, Mount Evelyn.
He said the 40 kilometre speed limit was breached 58 times, with a further three people found to be driving disqualified, two in unregistered cars, and two talking on mobile phones while driving.
Witnesses call
YARRA RANGES Traffic Management Unit has appealed for witnesses after a car crashed into a light pole in Mount Evelyn last week.
Sergeant John Morgan said a white Holden sedan lost control on Swansea Road, Mount Evelyn and hit a light pole near Birmingham Road on 18 August at 9.40pm.
Police are calling for witnesses to the collision, including people who may have seen the car travelling south along Swansea Road before the collision occurred, to phone Yarra Ranges TMU on 97361745.
Lights reminder
YARRA RANGES police have reminded drivers to not attach flashing lights to their cars.
The reminder follows an incident in Ringwood last week when Yarra Ranges Traffic Management Unit fined the drivers of two vehicles fitted with fluorescent lights.
Sergeant John Morgan said drivers were fined $173 each and were given seven days to present a roadworthy certificate for their cars to police, or their cars would be deemed not roadworthy.
