THOSE who have thought about joining a dance or ballet school but have dismissed the idea and said “No, not for me. Not graceful enough. Too old. Too stiff”, but wished deep down that they really would like to try… why not?
It’s never too late to experience the fun and enjoyment of discovering balance and movement said ballet school principal Lin Jewell.
Lin Jewell’s School of Ballet may be just the place to bring out that inner you by assisting you to gain confidence, self-esteem and good posture.
“Ballet gives students of all ages from tiny tots to mature age adults, male and female, the feeling of being able to move with more freedom,” said Lin.
“It also enables them to express and explore their capabilities and creativity in a gentle and enjoyable way.”
Students are carefully monitored and classes are conducted in small groups to allow for individual attention and care.
Students can take exams, if they choose to, when a certain standard has been reached.
“We have had a 100 per cent pass rate from previous exams with some gaining special awards,” said Lin. “Lily Mills was a recipient last November. Another student, Amber Haines, has just graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts as a tertiary student, winning the award as the most outstanding dancer.
“Ballet is of great benefit for coordination, concentration, confidence and posture.
“It also gives students an appreciation of all the arts.”
Classes are held in Upwey.
