Ten face charges for theft of 13 cars

TEN people have been charged over the recent theft of 13 motor vehicles, including the torching of three cars.
The Croydon Regional Response Unit (CRRU) says that the incidents took place in January.
Police media officer Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said, in most cases, the vehicles where allegedly stolen and taken by thieves to travel to their homes in the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Sen Const Wilson said one of the stolen cars was involved in a police pursuit.
He said those charged with the thefts range in age from 14 to 25 years of age.
Sen Const Wilson said two of the 10 charged, both aged 19, were remanded in custody while the others have been bailed to appear before the court at a later date.
This comes only weeks after two local youths were charged for the alleged theft of motor cars in Monbulk and Belgrave.
The CRRU apprehended a 16-year-old male from Monbulk and a 17-year-old male from Tecoma in late January.
Both youths will appear before the Ringwood Children’s Court on Wednesday, 26 July.
