THE 20 names of Knox City Council’s 2005 to 2007 Youth Council members have been revealed.
Shrouded in confidentiality until the successful nominees were notified, the youth councillors will have their first meeting on 10 August at Knox Municipal Offices.
Aged between 12 and 23, the councillors will have input on municipal issues affecting young people.
Despite the absence of nominations from Boronia, The Basin and Bayswater, Knox’s Youth Issues Advisory Committee chairman and Knox councillor Mick Van de Vreede said there was a diverse sample of Knox youth on the council.
“Twentyfive applications were received but only 20 positions were available,” he said.
“Their appointment follows a selection process that included submitting a formal application in response to a public advertisement and attendance at a fullday workshop.”
The council includes Ferntree Gully residents Madison Paton, Chris Starkey, Therese Roberts and Cameron Rodda.
