Antiques roadshow

TREASURE hunters and hoarders can hit the roadshow and unearth a hidden gem or two.
The Knox Antique and Collectibles Roadshow will roll into Ferntree Gully Community Arts Centre on Sunday, 22 October.
People from all over the Hills are invited to bring along family heirlooms, knick knacks and curios to be valued by Melbourne antique specialists Amanda Addams Auctions and David Freeman Valuations.
A three-minute valuation will cost $3 and may end up revealing hitherto untold riches.
“It might be something your granny left behind or something you found in your shed,” Rebecca Long, of Knox Community Arts Centre, said. “It might be worth $3 or it might be worth $3000.”
Ms Long hoped the roadshow, a Knox Heritage Festival event, would also be an educational experience.
Dealers from all over Victoria and interstate will sell furniture, jewellery, silver, china, porcelain, textiles, books, toys, Asian antiques and many other interesting modern collectibles at the event.
The all-day event kicks off at 9.30am and will include music, magic and entertainment in and around the arts centre.
Entry for the non-profit event is by gold coin donation, although serious collectors can get a sneak peak before the crowds arrive for a $5 fee.
