Empire Earth 2
WARFARE strategy fans can rejoice with the recent arrival of the sequel to the highly acclaimed Empire Earth.
While the original shared similarities to Microsoft’s Age of Empires, the sequel attempts to define its own identity by introducing a unique style of Real Time Strategy (RTS) gameplay.
The game is played from a bird’s eye view perspective and requires the player to establish a civilisation and its buildings, and then ultimately conquer nearby opponents.
This can be achieved by traditional means of building an army and overrunning the opposition, however Empire Earth 2 will punish players who enter combat with poor tactics.
To further encourage strategy, the game breaks up its maps into territories which can see conflicting empires battle for hours on end in one specific location on the map.
The gameplay becomes a pointandclick affair with your mouse, but the idea of ‘territories’ makes the road to controlling an empire more believable compared to previous games where there was only ever one enemy base to conquer.
Empire Earth 2 has a lush choice of units that you can use to create your own empire as well as many races to choose from, depending on your historical bias.
The game has an online feature if you wish to combat friends or strangers over the internet.
