MONBULK Rescue volunteers will get new gloves and protective glasses with the help of a donation.
Belgrave Safeway has donated $600 towards the Monbulk Country Fire Authorities (CFA) rescue unit.
Monbulk CFA runs the only rescue unit in the Dandenong Ranges, covering an area from Upwey to Silvan and Kalorama to Belgrave South.
The unit is staffed by volunteers who are on-call 24 hours a day and are mainly called to rescue people who have been trapped in their cars.
Captain Ross Leaver of Monbulk CFA said that a further six of the brigades volunteer firefighters are now doing a three-month course on rescue training.
He said the donation will go towards the purchase of urgently needed protective gloves and glasses which are designed specifically for the dangerous work volunteers carry out.
