A DANGEROUS stretch of road in Monbulk will get a $90,000 upgrade under the Federal Government’s black spot program.
Casey MP Tony Smith last week announced the funding for a 300-metre stretch of road along David Hill Road.
Senior Constable David Creek of Monbulk Police said there is a sharp turn in that section of road, which is north of Emerald-Monbulk Road.
He said that there had been many accidents along that stretch of road and that anything to improve road safety in the area was a good thing.
The funding for David Hill Road will allow the shoulder of the road to be sealed, and for the installation of streetlights.
Mr Smith says the funding is a crucial part of making roads safer for drivers.
“We all need to do more to do more to reduce fatalities on our roads,” he said.
Mr Smith has encouraged people to let their local council know about any dangerous black spot areas that they think need improvement.
