FAMILY First is hoping to poll the family vote at the upcoming Federal elections with the help of two new hills candidates.
Daniel Harrison has been announced as the party’s candidate for Casey and Jim Zubic for La Trobe.
Mr Harrison, a 22-year-old photographer from Lilydale, said local families deserve a fair go and that he was hoping to give them that.
He said local families are struggling to make ends meat but that Family First has a plan to reduce the cost of living by cutting petrol tax by 10 cents per litre, stop exorbitant bank fees, tackle skyrocketing grocery prices and make childcare fairer.
“This election should be about families and we are here to make sure whichever party wins government doesn’t forget the plight of families struggling to make ends meet,” Mr Harrison said.
He said one of the issues facing the Casey electorate was the cost of living.
“Recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show living cost for workers and their families is rising 50 per cent faster than inflation.”
Mr Harrison said cutting petrol prices and attacking the rising cost of groceries was high on his agenda if elected at the November polls.
Meanwhile Jim Zubic a family man and active community member is standing for the seat of La Trobe.
Mr Zubic said he wanted to stand-up and give a voice to families who are struggling to survive.
“I want to protect the family values that make this country great and so I am standing as a candidate for Family First,” he said.
