Wheellife drama as cars crash on highway

A RUNAWAY wheel was the cause of a 10car pile up on the Burwood Highway in Upwey last Tuesday, 9 August.
Belgrave Police Sergeant Andrew Herdman said a Ford sedan was travelling west along the Burwood Highway through Upwey at 6.55am when the front passenger wheel came off without warning, causing the vehicle to stop suddenly.
He said nine cars travelling behind the vehicle all had to brake heavily, causing multiple headtotail collisions.
Sgt Herdman said there were no injuries and only one car was towed away.

Burglaries

BELGRAVE police are investigating a number of burglaries in the Selby and Menzies Creek area which they believe could be related.
Sergeant Andrew Herdman said a number of burglaries from houses had occurred over the last month and police believed the same offender could be responsible.
“If anyone has seen any suspicious small white cars in the areas please contact police,” he said.

Damage

BORONIA police are concerned about a spate of wilful damage offences to construction sites in Boronia. Sergeant Rhonda Roughley said items such as doors had been stolen from construction sites during the past couple of weeks.
