Care for comedy

By Tania Martin
A NIGHT of comedy and a stage play are just some of the exciting events on show at the Burrinja Gallery this month.
Comedians Rachel Berger and Sue Anne Post will keep hills people in stitches of laughter when they take centre stage at the Burrinja Gallery café on Thursday, 17 May.
Local comedian Michael Connell will join Rachel and Sue in a night of fun and laughter.
Tickets cost $25 and the show starts at 8.30pm.
In the stage play The Carer, actor Alan Hopgood is back by popular demand starring in a play that was made famous 10 years ago by Bud Tingwell.
The play is about a man who retired so he could take care of his dying wife, a sufferer of Alzheimer’s disease.
It begins with the man returning home with his wife’s ashes to face life alone. The approach Hopgood’s character has for life provides some great comedic situations.
The Carer can be seen at the Burrinja Gallery, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey, on Saturday, 26 May for a matinee performance at 2pm or an evening show at 8pm. Tickets cost $24 for the evening show, $20 for concession cardholders, and $16 for the matinee performance.
To make a booking for either event, call the Burrinja Gallery on 9754 8723.
