Coming in to land

THE Shire of Yarra Ranges is spreading its wings with the launch of a new roving museum exhibition.
Wings of all shapes and sizes will soon become the talking point in towns right across the shire.
Anyone who sees a large pair of fairy, parrot or peacock wings will realise that they have wandered up to a museum exhibition.
Flying Objects, a roving exhibition, is the latest project for the former Museum of Lillydale.
The project will be the museum’s focus while it is closed for renovations.
Flying Objects will be located at 10 venues across the shire from today (Tuesday) and the locations will change with the seasons.
It will be open at various locations across the shire until the new regional museum is opened in late 2008.
Chandler Ward councillor Graham Warren said the exhibition would feature objects from the museum collection.
Booths with the wings and other museum items will be displayed at various locations across the shire.
Cr Warren said visitors can write down their reactions to the Flying Object exhibits and put them in a suggestion box at one of the booths.
“The comments will then join the object in ‘flying’ on to the next location for display,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community to add their own personal touch to the exhibition.”
Cr Warren has urged residents to make the most of this unique opportunity and to take part in the roving exhibitions.
For a list of the booth locations contact the shire on 1300 368 333.
