Garden meeting

THE future direction for Karwarra Gardens in Kalorama will be discussed at a community consultation on Tuesday, 29 November.
Speakers including the highly acclaimed landscape architect John Patrick and Karwarra Garden curator Marilyn Gray who will discus plans for the long-term development of the garden.
Karwarra will be the subject of a master and management plan that will take into account the garden’s medium and long-term development including future works and ways of better marketing the garden.
Ms Gray has welcomed the commitment of funds by the Shire of Yarra Ranges for the development of the master plan, which will be produced by John Patrick.
Karwarra Gardens is home to more than 2000 different types of Australian native plants and attracts thousands of visitors each year to admire the garden and learn more about propagating and using native flora.
The consultation session will commence at 7pm at Karwarra Gardens in Mt Dandenong Road, Kalorama.

YARRA Valley Water has announced a new easy to remember phone hot line that will speed up response times to water emergencies and is expected reduce the impacts of water wastage.
In a water emergency callers can dial the word 13WATER or 13 92 837 to be connected to their local water authority.
The company’s managing director Tony Kelly said the hotline has the potential to save thousands of litres of water and dramatically reduce waste through early reporting of faults.
Victoria’s water authorities have developed the new hot line in conjunction with Telstra to route calls from any location to the correct water authority.
People who have faults or emergencies such as burst water mains or sewer mains, water leaks, damaged meters, sewerage overflows or man holes overflowing should dial 13WATER.
