KNOX police are investigating two cases of indecent exposure in the Ferntree Gully area.
Senior Sergeant John Hess said it was unknown whether the offences, which took place within 24 hours, were related.
The first incident occurred when a child victim was approached by a man on Ferntree Gully Road near Windermere Drive at 7.30am on Thursday 2 February.
The man attracted the victim’s attention by asking the time before exposing himself.
At 8am the following morning, a 29-year-old woman walking her dogs in Glenfern Park Reserve noticed a man standing between park buildings.
The man attracted the woman’s attention and exposed himself before running away.
The female victim described the man as being about 24 and 180cm tall, with light brown hair, a thin build and a tanned complexion.
Sen Sgt Hess said he did not know whether similar incidents may have occurred and gone unreported, but urged the public to contact the Knox police on 9881 7000 with any information that could help build an investigation.
