AS THE Last Post sounded out across the hills on Friday, hundreds of veterans and local residents paused to remember the Anzac spirit.
The day marked the 93rd anniversary of the landing of Gallipoli where 8000 Australian soldiers were killed.
Hundreds of hills people – young and old – attended remembrance services in Monbulk, Emerald, Gembrook and Cockatoo.
In Monbulk more than 300 people lined Main Street as veterans, descendants of Gallipoli veterans and local students marched in memory of those brave soldiers who sacrificed so much.
