PARENTS and children can learn how to stay safe online with a series of Knox council seminars.
Knox councillor Adam Gill said many young people were unaware of how potentially dangerous the online environment could be.
“The very nature and accessibility of the internet means parents face an uphill battle when monitoring what their children access,” he said.
“But this forum will show them that there are ways young people can be safe when using technology.”
Seminar one, on Thursday 29 May, will cover the basics of social networking websites MySpace and Facebook.
The second seminar, on Wednesday 11 June, will include a panel presentation and question and answer session.
Both seminars will be held at Knox Library, 425 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South, from 6pm to 8.30pm.
Anyone who would like more information can contact Knox Council Youth Services department on 9298 8000.
