THE man whose wife and two daughters were murdered in the Port Arthur massacre was the keynote speaker at the Toastmasters annual convention at Mt Evelyn last month.
Walter Mikac gave a soul-touching presentation about how he rebuilt his life after the tragedy.
He is a founder of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation, a charity protecting children from violence.
More than 350 people from around the country made the trip to the York on Lilydale on 17 and 18 May to attend the convention.
A highlight of the event was the Toastmasters International Speech Contest.
The winner, Chris Smith, will visit Canada in August to compete against Toastmasters members from around the world.
Guest speakers at the event included communication professionals Paul McCarthy and David Julian Price.
The international organisation Toastmasters helps people achieve self-confidence, communication skills, and leadership potential through coordinated public speaking programs.
