Police to throw the book at spray vandals

EMERALD police have announced a zero-tolerance war against graffiti following the latest spate of vandalism.
Vandals went on a rampage shortly after 7pm on Friday 6 June, spray painting the walls of Emerald Primary School, sheds at Puffing Billy Railway and a toilet block in Kilvington Drive.
Emerald Primary School principal Mark Carver said it was disappointing that the school had been the target of another senseless attack.
Mr Carver said the school had been left to clean up the mess, wasting time and money that could be used on school projects.
However, he said that the parents and school community had shown great support with the clean-up effort.
Senior Constable Gavan Wyllie of Emerald Police said that the school was the worst hit by the attack with a number of tags splashed across the walls of the buildings.
He said some of the tags such as Kees, Trast, TWK, Leach, Dater, pm1 (public enemy number one) and pic (partners in crime) were painted across the walls using silver and black spray paint and shoe polish.
Sen Const Wyllie said that police had zero tolerance of graffiti and those caught will be penalised.
“If offenders get caught they will be charged. We will show no leniency,” he said.
Police last week charged two hills youths and are still looking for a third offender.
Anyone who has any information regarding the graffiti should contact Emerald police on 5968 4422.
