DOCTORS at one practice are welcoming all comers after the closure of several hills surgeries.
Practice manager at Olinda’s The Hills Medical Caroline Danahay said the centre’s general practitioners were happy to take on new patients.
“We never knock back a patient,” she said.
The Mount Dandenong Tourist Road practice has been in operation for more than 25 years.
The surgery employs two doctors full time and another two part time, with a third part time doctor set to start in August.
Upwey residents recently asked the Shire of Yarra Ranges to help them attract doctors to the town, following the closure of Upwey Doctors at the end of March.
Doctors Nadine Fisher and Chandrika Thangarajah moved to Boronia Mall Clinic after plans for an amalgamation with Belgrave Medical Clinic fell through.
Late last month the Mail reported Ferntree Gully’s Commercial Road Consulting Rooms would be forced to close its doors.
Doctor Brian Dunne had worked as a GP in Ferntree Gully for more than 30 years but a change in ownership of his surgery saw him moved to a Ringwood practice.
