JOHNNY Depp has brought to life Roald Dahl’s classic children’s story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
A recreation of the book, Depp stars as Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and keeps movie goers in stitches of laughter throughout the movie.
The film begins with the world being whipped into a chocolatebuying frenzy when renowned manufacturer and recluse Willy Wonka announces his intention to open his factory to five lucky children.
Willy Wonka has placed five golden tickets into five chocolate bars which have been distributed around the world. Children and adults from England, America and even Japan rushed to buy as many Wonka bars as possible in a hope that they would get the golden ticket.
Willy Wonka had closed his chocolate factory, the biggest in the world, many years ago after he was betrayed by workers who sold his secret recipes to the opposition.
Now, Willy Wonka was offering five lucky children and their parent or guardian an opportunity to tour the factory.
One of the children would also be the winner of the ultimate prize, which Willy Wonka was keeping a secret.
Charlie Bucket admires Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory from afar, while his grandfather Jo reminisces over the good old days when he worked at the factory.
The Buckets are very poor and can barely afford to survive on cabbage soup.
Although money is tight Charlie’s parents give him his birthday present a week early which is usually a Wonka bar, but there was no golden ticket inside.
Meanwhile a rich and spoilt girl, a compulsive chewing gum addict, a German Chocoholic, and a video game kid all find the golden tickets. Giving up hope of ever finding a golden ticket, Charlie stumbles across a $10 bill and runs to the nearest store for a Wonka Bar.
Not expecting to see a golden ticket inside Charlie is surprised that he has found the last ticket and runs home to tell his family.
What follows is an enthralling tale of the tour of the chocolate factory with many twists and turn. Movie buffs should take the opportunity to see this funny and wacky film of the adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
Chocful of family fun
