GEMBROOK CFA is ready to tackle the up-coming fire season after it was recently handed the keys to its new $150,000 state-of-the-art tanker.
The new vehicle has replaced the brigade owned vehicle that has been in use since the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires.
Gembrook MP recently handed over the keys to the new vehicle, which was jointly funded through the State Government, cash raised by the brigade and the CFA.
The State Government contributed $45,333 towards the truck while the brigade raised more than $40,000 with the rest from the CFA.
The new tanker holds 1200 litres of water and will be a great addition to brigade as it prepares for another hot and dry summer bushfire season.
Ms Lobato said it was great to able to hand over the keys to the new tanker especially after all the hard work that volunteers and their families have put into raising the cash.
“CFA volunteers and their families make enormous sacrifices in dedicating time and energy to ensuring community safety and I, along with all the members of the community, are extremely grateful for the work they do,” she said.
