ONE of Australia’s most exciting young jazz bands will perform a free live concert at Emerald Lake Park on Sunday, 11 December.
Cardinia residents, friends and families are invited to bring a picnic and relax to the sounds of the CBC Fremantle Jazz Orchestra.
The band appeals to an audience of all ages, performing the music from the classic big band era of the 40s through to the funk/rock sounds of today.
With an average age of 16, the members of the Western Australian orchestra are already veterans of dozens of major events. They have earned honourable mentions in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival and won the Ensemble category in the 2004 WA Schools Jazz Festival.
Cardinia sustainable communities manager Maria Berry said the council had managed to secure the band as part of its Victorian tour.
“This follows its successful concert tour of Adelaide last year. The band has also released two CDs which can be purchased at all of their performances,” she said.
“Visitors are welcome to come early and stay all day to enjoy all Emerald Lake Park offers, including paddleboats, model railway, walks and picnic facilities with free barbecues.”
The event will be held at the Gus Ryberg amphitheatre in Emerald Lake Park on Sunday, 11 December between 11am and 2pm. Picnic hampers can also be pre-booked from the Emerald Lake Park Cafe and Tea Rooms by phoning 5968 5113.
This free event is presented by Cardinia Shire Council. Emerald Lake Park is open from 8am – 8pm for the summer. Phone 1300 131 683.
