The free workshops will outline roles, responsibilities, campaign tips and the election process ahead of the 29 November election.
The first workshop will be held on Wednesday 17 September from 7pm in meeting room four at Knox Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South.
Victorian Electoral Commission will host the second on Tuesday 21 October.

Ward again

KNOX mayor Jim Penna has announced he will again run for Baird Ward in the looming local government elections.
Cr Penna said he had unfinished business, including the Boronia revitalisation plan and warm water facility.
He made the announcement at a ward reception on Thursday 4 September.
About 100 people from more than 40 groups and service organisations attended the event.
“It’s to thank them for their various contributions over the last three years of my term and in building the community,” Cr Penna said.

Basin Triangle

KNOX residents can now comment on plans to revitalise The Basin Triangle.
The triangle is a section of parkland in The Basin bordered by Forest Road, Mountain Highway and Church Street.
The project’s aim is to improve the area’s accessibility and visual appeal.
The plan has been created following community surveys, workshops and interviews.
Twenty-seven proposed improvements include new signs, seating, paths and play equipment, and extra parking.
The plan is available from www.knox.vic.gov.au.

Record
Projects

KNOX Council completed record $24.64 million worth of community projects in the past year.
Mayor Jim Penna attributed the record to the two per cent infrastructure levy, planning and careful scheduling.
Key projects included safety improvements for Ferntree Gully’s McMahons Road and stage one of the Dorset Square redevelopment.

Bike paths
boost

ALMOST half a million dollars will be spent on Knox bike paths in the next 12 months.
Councillors gave a revised bicycle plan the green light at their 26 August meeting.
They hope the $485,000 worth of improvements will increase bike use, reduce car dependency and promote active lifestyles.
