HILLS schools received a safety boost last week when new electronic speed signs were switched on.
Signs in 70km/h zones outside St Joseph’s, Montrose, St Bernadette’s and The Basin primary schools, Mt Evelyn Christian School and Upwey High School will display 40km/h during busy school times.
Monbulk MP James Merlino said the signs would make motorists more aware of reduced school speed limits. About 200 Victorian schools in busy 70km/h and 60km/h speed zones will receive electronic speed signs in a $13.6 million State Government investment.
Signs have already been installed at all schools on roads which are 80km/h or higher.
