THREE youths have been nabbed after two cars were stolen and then torched near Cockatoo last week.
The cars were stolen from Pakenham and Emerald some time on Monday 29 September before being taken for a joy ride.
Pakenham Criminal Investigations Unit Detective Senior Constable John Balinsky said the cars were later recovered in Cockatoo.
He said the cars were set alight some time after 4am on Monday.
Det Sen Const Balinsky said three youths had been charged with stealing the cars and arson of a motor vehicle.
He said this was the latest in a spate of stolen and torched cars.
In the past three months police have been called out to at least 10 incidents of arson.
Det Sen Const Balinsky said the youths would appear before the courts later this year.
