Flame for life

IT’S time again for hills people to light a flame for cancer awareness.
This follows the launch of the 2009 Casey Cardinia Relay for Life.
The 2009 relay campaign was recently launched to raise cash and awareness for cancer research.
Past, present and future teams all gathered at Shanikas Restaurant in Berwick for the launch on Monday 29 September.
This year the teams are aiming even higher than ever before with 19 groups already registered for the event.
Coordinator Amy McKee said the launch was a great opportunity for residents to share their passion for the relay and fuel their excitement for the upcoming event.
The 2009 event will mark the sixth Casey Cardinia relay and teams are aiming to reach a milestone of more than $500,000 raised since 2003.
The relay will be held on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March at Akoonah Park, Berwick.
It will feature a 24 hour stroll, walk or run, where groups of 10 or more take up the challenge to keep their team’s baton moving.
People can now register for $15 and will receive a Relay for Life T-shirt, handbook and fundraising materials.
To register a team call the Relay for Life hotline on 130 656 585 or visit www.relayfor-life.org.au.
