Garden centre springs to life

ESTABLISHED since 1945, the Emerald Co-op saw an opportunity to purchase the Garden Centre earlier this year as the it wanted to provide the shareholders and local Emerald and District community with improved service and a larger range of products.
The friendly staff members are all local, offering customers genuine advice and relevant tips for all seasons throughout the year.
The catchcry for spring seems to be mulch, mulch, mulch.
The array of colours in the long-life mulch range will help brighten any garden with gold, sky blue, red, green, forest brown or terracotta on offer.
Wetting agents and manure are also available to help retain moisture for the hotter months.
Store manager Greg Smith said people need to watch out for black spot on roses.
“While the warmer weather brings out the flowers, it also brings out the bugs,” he said.
“So keep up the insecticides because all the nasty pests love to eat what you love to look at!”
The store now provides a free gift-wrapping service for special occasions to add to their gorgeous range of gift ideas such as bird baths, potted plants and statues.
So, for people looking to plant vegies, herbs, succulents or even shade-loving flora for problem areas, the Mitre 10 Garden Centre sells hundreds of products, backed with mighty helpful assistance.
Emerald and District Co-op Mitre 10 Garden Centre is at 281-289 Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Emerald.
