Exhibition ends

By Casey Neill
The series, titled Kalorama, is an exploration of mediums, textures and natural imagery interpreted using brush, camera and technology.
“Kalorama is created with a deep affection for my natural environment and other experiences I have encountered along the way,” Ms Carter said.
Ms Carter has lived in the hilltop town for eight years.
Her most recent paintings and photos feature local wildlife and the views of Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne, Mt Macedon and the Yarra Valley from her home.
Ms Carter’s father, John Travers, was a top Melbourne photographer.
“I grew up in a photography studio on the corner of Swanston and Collins Streets,” she said.
The professional artist studied fashion design and has travelled throughout Europe, learning and creating.
She said creating art was exciting.
“It keeps you open all the time for new ideas,” she said.
“You’re always looking and watching.”
Kalorama is on now at Jarmbi Gallery at Burrinja until 23 November.
The gallery is open from 10.30am to 5pm daily. Entry is free.
More of Vivienne Carter’s work can be viewed online at www.artistsonline.net.au and from next month, www.worldartgalleryonline.com.
