UPWEY’s Maria McIntyre is looking forward to new challenges this year.
The dedicated principal is taking up a new post at St Peter and Paul’s in Doncaster.
For the past 13 years Ms McIntyre has been at the helm at St Paul’s Monbulk.
But she reckons it was time to move on. “I really loved being up here and I will miss the place,” she said.
“But I am looking forward to a change in setting and new school community.”
Ms McIntyre has been teaching for more than 33 years and said it was all she ever wanted to do.
She said the biggest change in education over the years had been the development of the technological age.
“Education doesn’t look like it did in 1974 when I graduated,” she said.
Ms McIntyre said it was amazing to see kids as young as five being able to use computers and master the internet.
St Paul’s will welcome new principal Frank Dame when he takes over later this month at the beginning of a new year.
