A FERNTREE Gully man stopped trains last Thursday morning with an abseiling attempt gone wrong.
Boronia Sergeant Alan Cook said the 42-year-old was under the influence of alcohol when he scaled the steep embankment about 4am to catch the first train to Ferntree Gully.
“Four metres down he realised he couldn’t make the final eight metres so he called for help,” he said.
Police cut power to the tracks near Boronia Railway Station so CFA volunteers could winch the man to safety.
The man will not face charges over the incident.
