Dangerous road appeal

POLICE are calling for action on a dangerous section of road near Cockatoo following the second collision in four weeks.
Three drivers narrowly escaped injury following a crash on Woori Yallock Road on Friday 3 April shortly after 5pm.
Emerald Constable Paul Guy said this comes just weeks after another collision in the same spot saw a Pakenham man in his 50s escape serious injury.
He said in the latest crash a driver lost control and flipped his car before coming to a stop and blocking Woori Yallock Road two kilometres from Cockatoo.
“The other two drivers behind the man crashed trying to avoid a collision,” Const Guy said.
They both swerved off the road and went through a local resident’s fence.
Const Guy said both collisions followed rain storms.
He has warned all drivers to be aware of the dangers of that section of Woori Yallock Road in slippery conditions.
Const Guy said although no one was injured in either crash something needed to be done.
He is now preparing a report for Cardinia Traffic Management Unit calling for the intersection to be investigated.
“We have had two near misses and, hopefully, we can get something in place before someone is injured or worse,” Const Guy said.
