Four weeks of extremes

EMERALD Netball Club completed hosting the first round of the Sherbrooke Netball Association 2009 season with 14 teams in the competition. The first four weeks were full of great netball and some extreme weather conditions.
The first week Emerald players took to the courts in their new uniforms but rain disrupted the games.
By the time the 13Bs took the court the rain was coming down hard and the game had to be cancelled. The rain was steady for the rest of the day but calm enough to allow the remaining games to be played.
Week two was an extreme to the previous week. The temperatures soared throughout the day while the players kept up the water intake to keep from dehydration.
The 13s and 15s showed toughness on the court as they struggled with the heat but the temperatures rose above 34 degrees resulting in the 17s, open ladies and open mixed being cancelled because of temperature regulations.
All games ran smoothly for week three. There was some tough netball some highly competitive games.
The final week of the first round showed the players’ fitness and agility improving.
