A MONBULK woman feels violated following an Easter farm raid.
Margaret Trezise returned home on Sunday 12 April to find her tractor had been stolen.
Ms Trezise said the bandit cut through a locked gate to gain access to the farming property in Macclesfield Road.
The $25,000 CK22 tractor was parked in the couple’s carport.
Ms Trezise said she had someone dropping in to watch over the property periodically over the weekend.
The tractor was stolen sometime between 9.30pm Saturday 11 April and 10.30am Sunday 12 April.
“They would have needed a trailer and bolt cutters to get through the gate,” Ms Trezise said.
“They knew what they were doing.”
Ms Trezise believes the thieves had been watching the house to pick the right time to strike. Within an hour of arriving home she discovered the tractor had been taken.
“This is the first time anything like this has happened … we were shocked and horrified,” she said.
Belgrave’s Sergeant Graeme Moore is calling for witnesses of the break-in to come forward.
He said reports of anyone acting suspiciously at the time would help recover the missing tractor.
Ms Trezise said the tractor was vital to her business as it has a slasher also attached to it.
“We are devastated,” she said.
“I feel like my privacy has been violated … someone has taken what’s yours and it makes me feel unsafe now.”
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything should contact Monbulk Police on 9756 6266 or Belgrave on 9754 6677.
