Family run centre is still scoring goals

Bayswater Indoor Soccer Centre is thriving.Bayswater Indoor Soccer Centre is thriving.

A TRUE family business from the day it started, Bayswater Indoor Soccer Centre has been operating for 26 years and is now running an average of 200 to 300 teams a week, depending on the time of year.
Some customers have been playing at Bayswater Indoor Soccer Centre for more than 20 years and are now seeing their children playing there. Manager Nick van Egmond is the person behind the success of the indoor centre.
“In 1983 I saw on television that indoor soccer was being played overseas and believed I could make it work here,” he said.
“At the time I was playing soccer at the highest level and was also coaching.
“All I had to do was persuade my family to pursue this dream.”
Nick was obviously persuasive as this thriving centre now provides training for sporting clubs and youth groups all year round.
With four courts especially designed for rebound soccer, two volleyball courts and two basketball courts, Bayswater Indoor Soccer Centre offers a range of services to the public including five-a-side indoor soccer as well as juniors, men’s and mixed school competitions on weekdays.
On Saturday mornings there are skills and tiny tots soccer clinics.
A soccer shop provides for all soccer needs and also supplies equipment to clubs in the eastern districts.
Nick and his son (Nick junior) have played at the highest level in Victoria and both have won numerous awards in their field.
Bayswater Indoor Soccer Centre is at 13 Burton Court Bayswater; phone 9729 1999.
The centre is open from 10am to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
